We Worship God
Our Sunday 10:00 a.m. worship reflects time honored traditions while nurturing artistic and creative expression to awaken us to God's presence. We give joy and praise to God and provide spiritual grounding to people through a dynamic experience of:

creative liturgy |
heartfelt music and singing |
prayers of intimacy and strength |
sacraments celebrated joyously and frequently |
Sermons seek to nurture faith in daily life and speak to the issues of our complex world with compassion, insight, and biblical integrity. We hope that people are changed and charged by worshipping at First United!
We encourage members of the congregation to participate in worship in many ways, including greeting people at the doors, being Lectors who lead the Call to Worship and read the first Scripture, taking the collection, and serving communion. We have had members do special readings, enact the scripture, and interpret the scripture through dance.
Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month and every Sunday in Advent and Eastertide. Special services are held on Ash Wednesday and throughout Passion Week, the week between Palm Sunday and Easter. Other special worship services are held several times each year. These may include Taize services, times of quiet contemplation, and worship based on particular themes.
Children and Worship
We welcome our children's presence and participation in worship. Children can know and experience God and have faith to share. Children's presence in worship is not only important but is necessary if we are to become the whole people of God.
For the youngest children, we provide pew pals (stuffed animals) in many pews so the children can quietly cuddle and play with the pals during the worship services. For families with children under age four who prefer nursery care, we have a nursery available, with supervision, on Sunday mornings.
A “Time for Children” is a regular part of Sunday services and we invite all children to come forward and sit with the worship leader for this special time. For older children, up to grade 6, we have clipboards with age appropriate Bible stories and other activities. The clipboards are in baskets in the front of the church and the worship leader will invite the children to take clipboards after the “Time for Children.”
