She has an extensive background in community ministry and also as a leader in a unique model of collaborative ministry with other churches.

Prior to her call to First United, she served from October 1991 until July 2000 as Pastor of The Presbyterian Church in Pleasantville, New Jersey, and from November 1989 until September 1991 as part-time program administrator of Christian Education at Old First Presbyterian Church in San Francisco, California. She is a 1989 graduate of San Francisco Theological Seminary, completed a unit of CPE at Abbot Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, and served as a pastoral intern from August 1987 to June 1988 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Tiburon, California. She received her undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University in International Politics, and her first career was as a member of the program staff of the African Graduate Fellowship Program of the African-American Institute in New York City. Alexandra grew up in suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a young adult, she lived in New York City and then moved to the West Coast where she spent 18 years in San Francisco. She is the mother of two sons, Kristofor, 34, who lives in Illinois and Jonathan, 30, who lives in California. She is a gardener, both indoor and outdoor, and a musician. She plays the piano, likes to sing, and enjoys listening to a variety of music. She also enjoys cooking and baking. She is a fan of good films and theater. Alexandra was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament on September 29, 1991, by the San Francisco Presbytery on behalf of the Presbytery of West Jersey. In 1999, she served as a commissioner from the Presbytery of West Jersey to the 211th General Assembly in Fort Worth, Texas. |
