Full Moon Gathering in the Red Tent Returns To First United
Second Annual “Spiritual Sleepover” for Women
April 18 - 19
Once again, Jae Way of OneSelf invites you to grab your sleeping bag and cuddly pillow and join her, along with co-facilitators Connie Barber, Leslie Depew and Diana Gribben, for a “spiritual sleepover” at First United. Starting on Friday evening, April 18 at 6:30, this special women's event will offer partici-pants a night of nurturing, of sharing feelings and life stories, as well as time to play and just be.
This year's theme is “Renewing Our Heart Connections“. As Jae explains, “In these challenging times, it seems like we are constantly rushing – both physically and mentally – just to keep up with our practical commitments at work and at home. As a consequence, it can often feel like our most important emotional ties – to our life partner, our children, our extended family and dearest friends – get re-prioritized until they are stretched to their limits. Our Red Tent gathering offers participants an oppor-tunity to stop and reconnect to those emotional ties.”
To some it may seem counter-intuitive that in order to renew our heart connections, we need to take a night retreating away from them. “Renewal starts inside of us,” Jae offers. “In taking our own emo-tional 'time out' – taking just a little while away from our phones, away from our calendars and our 'to do' lists, away from the everyday voices that surround us – we get to reconnect to the Heart of Who we really are. From that reclaimed self-understanding and inner heart connection, we are able to step back into our everyday lives and consciously, lovingly renew our interpersonal heart connections.”
As a participant from last year wrote on her evaluation form, “I guess I had no real expectations about this event, but I know I have benefited greatly. It's a wonderful time for reflection and introspection.”
